Adirondack Boat Tours
In the late 1800s, Blue Mountain Lake attracted the very wealthiest families in America as a great retreat; some of their great camps are still visible from the water. Behind the scenes, the servants and lumberjacks of the area lead to many interesting stories that give this region its rich cultural heritage. Our tour features the camps, hotels, steamboats, workers, and players in the late 1800s. As the era draws to a close, we cover the last of the great camps and the whirlwind of typhus and bankruptcy that follows. As a new generation emerges, preservation and conservation in our times also play a part in the great Adirondack story. Between the beautiful scenery, fascinating history, and interesting tour guide, our historic boat cruise is one part of the Adirondack experience you will not want to miss!
Reservations are strongly recommended—especially on our larger boats and required on private charters.

The Boats
Climb aboard some of the oldest operating tour boarts in New York State!
Each boat is annually inspected by the New York State Department of Historic Preservation.
The New York State Parks and Recreation Department tests and certifies the pilots, who are skilled in the navigation of these waters.
Towahloondah
Built in 1921 by the Hutchinson brothers, this vessel is ideal for groups of up to 20 people. Circular seating allows for interior space and personal conversation. Her brilliant deep blue hull and distinct lines awe the passerby. Finished off with a canopy to protect the passengers from the elements.
Osprey
This vessel was constructed in 1918 by renowned Adirondack guide boat builder Warren Cole. She was one of four boats built under contract for the US Postal Service to run the mail through the Saranac chain of lakes. As the only surviving long boat Cole made, she carries on the legacy of the cedar-sided mahogany deck tunnel hulls with grace. The Osprey does have a canopy to protect passengers from the elements.
Neenykin
Built in the Swampscott, Massachusetts in 1916 by the Chasion brothers this double-ended launch saw initial service as a passenger shuttle that cruised between Hyannis and Martha’s Vineyard. To spite her New England beginnings, the Neenykin a true Adirondack classic operating as the boart livery’s primary tour vessel for over 90 years. Impeccably restored and still running its original engine, this antique boat makes for an intimate tourism vessel.
